The Race Crew prepares for high speed transitions;

one small glitch, they take off with everyones bike shoes before they get back from run...
...thankfully, Paul mad-dogs it back after he realizes the error, but too late for Jim who is battling for the lead with Murph, Jim pulls out his Iron Man skills and rides the dreaded 5 mile HillBilly Hill with running shoes and clip-in pedals.

Dakotah wonders why Paul is filling some shoes with rocks and if he'll ask her to listen to his songs for the hundreth time.

Murph powers down waterfall run with a narrow lead, but confidence high.

Jim's hot on his tail, confident he'll be flying once he clicks into biking shoes waiting for him, safe and sound at transition area...

Trevor's Cherokee Indian blood show's in his eyes as he gains ground with a mad gallop down the trail.

Danny begins seizures that last nearly half the race, eyes showing the first symptoms of West Nile Virus.

Don and Michael hit the transition area, change to running shoes, ready to scramble up the trail to the beautiful Monrovia waterfalls.

MegaMel takes a self-portrait while hanging at the falls, despite enjoying the scenery, he maintains a strong 5th place.

Danny recovers from seizures and powers up Hillbilly Hill.

Meanwhile, MegaMel maintains 5th position without breaking a sweat, all while relaxing under the hot breath of devil-hounds, mocking them by sitting under their warning sign, and then completing a survey by an Eco Freako Commy Fruitcake...who is this guy?

Dakotah argues with Murph, who insists he's finished after only 10 laps, Dakotah slaps him around and he does one more, gaining victory.

Jim finishes close behind for second, and Trevor's a couple of laps behind for third.

HILLBILLY HILL RECON REPORT

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
T-Downs and I have been truckin' up and burnin' down these dusty trails for five years...every now and then chased by rabid hillbilly hound dogs (hence the name, Hillybilly Hill), stalked by pot-head dope farmers, and on any given night, frozen in our footsteps by the sillouette of Sasquatch. The treacherous conditions have increased due to crazy amounts of rain, so we tapped into our satellite connection to bring you the latest in geographical conditions upon our sacred mountain.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Close to 40 inches of El Nino powered droplets slammed the hillside this winter, creating several mudslides. Rumors have it, these slides have uncovered an ancient UFO that crashed into the hillside in 1823. Doug's uncle, Heimy Gonzales, was an eyewitness to the crash. It is this very spot, coincidentally, that Doug dragged his face across during his infamous wipe out at Hillybilly Hill I.

As you can see, the once friendly fire road has been transformed into a level 9 single track, offering any young buck the opportunity to snap a femur, break a rib, or crack a cockix. So, be careful, Napoleon, you have a genetic predisposition for the latter.

This picture was taken by Alan, who stood above me laughing after my heat stroke induced crash last year.

One more thing...the slides have uncovered the deadly chupacabre blood ant. These 5 inch predators will sink their fangs right through your tire, smack their chops as you wipe out, and feed upon your broken body, leaving your pathetic carcass for the turkey vultures. Rumor has it, Vic is immune to the bite due to his upbringing in the chupacabre infected Zimbawe Rainforest...once again, Vic is one of the favorites to win the race.
Well, that's it for the Hillbilly Hill Recon Report...time to start training, cause if you step foot into this arena unprepared, you'd be better off taking on a herd of crazed buffalo elephants in heat. Over and out.

Trevor and Danny

An easy way to get a story or post up, is to write it under comments, then write "Post" at end, I'll cut and paste, add a pic of yours if you email it to me, or one of my choosing, and then I'll put it on main page. Sweeet! If you just want to leave in comments, don't write "Post".

MegaMel and Trev at Hi-Tech Challenge

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
The Hi-Tech Challenge (as it was called then, it is now sponsored by Power-Bar) is what started it all. A race that is referred to as a sprint, it covers 5-8 miles of mountain running through rivers, ponds, and mud, 10-15 miles of tough mountain biking, 2 miles of kayaking, and many grueling special tests. It's taken Danny, MegaMel, and Trev 3-4 hours to finish the races, we've done 3 so far. The first year, we thought we needed a warm-up race, so we created the HillBilly Hill. This will be the fourth year of HillBilly, and it's been a blast.

So that's the idea guys. Have a thought or a picture. Send it to me, and I'll have it up in a flash for all to see.

Trev

He's waiting for you...(Race information)

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
It's that time of the year again boys. The Hillbilly Hill just keeps getting better. This year, IT'S FREE!!! To simplify Danny and Trev's lives, we're making it free. Of course there will be no t-shirts, videos, dogtags or trophies; but heh, we've got a blog now. This blog will be open to all to post pictures and stories from training and the race.

WHEN: SATURDAY, JUNE 24TH. Race instructions and warm-up 5 Start: 530 p.m.
WHERE: TREVOR'S HOUSE -- SEE FLIER FOR ADDRESS: or call: 323-533-1125

1.2 MILE mnt. bike TO WATERFALL TRAIL.
2 mile run to waterfall and back.
5 mile mnt. bike up and back over the dreaded, snake infested, redneck stalking, Hillbilly Hill.
3 special tests at Trev's house.
13 adventure laps in pool. Subtract a lap for every special test completed.

To keep it simple, there is no charge. It's BYOB & drink/snack for pre and post festivities and some money to pitch in for pizza if you're sticking around to eat and drink after the race.

REMEMBER IT'S ALL ABOUT FUN, SO DON'T WORRY IF YOU'RE OUT OF SHAPE. I AM!!!!

Fun times boys. Guys only again, invite your friends, we're putting a cap at 20 though, so lock it in with Trev or Danny ASAP.

Last years Champion, Maddog Brent Murphy, is out due to injury, so the field is open for a new CHAMP!

Remember this blog is open to all racers, we encourage you to send an email and picture to tdsurf@juno.com and he will post it on the blog.

Stories from past years, training tips, stories from other races, or just a thought...it's your blog, anything you want, but keep it clean please.

After the race, we'll have pics and stories from the race to post!!!!!

START TRAINING!!! LET US KNOW IN COMMENTS (BELOW) IF YOU'RE PLANNING ON RACING OR YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS. OR SEND ME AN EMAIL AT TDSURF@JUNO.COM
